Tabuntu Workspace is a Chrome extension that helps you group your work web apps into named workflows. This page explains, in plain terms, what the extension does and doesn't do with your data.
Summary
- The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your data, browsing history, or personal information. There is no analytics and no tracking.
- Your workflows, apps, and settings are stored by Chrome on your own device (and via your own Chrome Sync). They never pass through any server we control.
- The free version requires no account and makes no network requests.
- The one exception is the optional Pro upgrade: to verify a subscription, the extension contacts our payment provider, ExtensionPay. No browsing or workflow data is sent.
- The extension cannot read the content of the pages you visit.
What's stored, and where
The workflows, apps, and settings you configure are saved using Chrome's built-in storage APIs, directly on your device:
- Synced storage (
chrome.storage.sync): your workflows, apps, and settings. If you're signed into Chrome, this is synced across your own devices by Chrome itself — the same mechanism Chrome uses for bookmarks and browsing settings. Tabuntu Workspace never sees this data pass through any server it controls, because it has none. - Local storage (
chrome.storage.local): device-specific state, such as the remembered size and position of the optional AI chat window.
Uninstalling the extension removes this data from your device in the normal way Chrome handles extension storage.
Permissions the extension requests
- tabs — to open, focus, and pin the tabs that make up your workflows.
- tabGroups — to name and color the Chrome tab group for your active workflow.
- storage — to save your workflows, apps, and settings as described above.
- sidePanel — to show the vertical workflow and app switcher.
- favicon — to show each app's real icon, read from Chrome's local favicon cache (no network request).
- New Tab override — to show a launcher dashboard in place of Chrome's default new tab page.
- host permission —
https://extensionpay.com/— used only to check Pro subscription status and open the payment/trial pages. No browsing data is sent.
Tabuntu Workspace does not inject scripts into the web pages you visit. It only opens URLs you've configured yourself — it cannot read, modify, or monitor the content of any tab.
Payments (Pro subscription)
Optional Pro features are handled by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe for payment processing. If you start a free trial or subscribe, ExtensionPay and Stripe process your email address and payment details under their own privacy policies (ExtensionPay, Stripe). The extension itself only receives a simple "paid / not paid" status in return, and never sees or stores your card details.
Third parties
Aside from the payment processing described above, Tabuntu Workspace uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind, and shares no data with any third party.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change accordingly. Material changes will also be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
